We’re redesigning TORO — and we want your weirdest, most wonderful ideas.
Remote | Contract Only | Contact to Apply
TORO is a next-gen food discovery app that flips the script: We don’t rate restaurants — we rate dishes.
We’re building a platform where users track what they actually ate. Think: the Yelp of fried chicken sandwiches, not the whole place. But we’re just getting started.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a bold, eccentric, gamified UX redesign of our app, based on the current direction found here: https://www.figma.com/design/BOz9CJZitJDhKq4RJNS8pu/Toro-for-Future-UX?node-id=0-1&p=f&t=NpSDbDjMK2teRJbD-0
Your job? Make TORO weirder, wilder, more interactive — almost like a game. We want something that feels more alive like a game, like something that makes rating your go-to tonkatsu ramen dish feel like leveling up in Animal Crossing.
Inspiration & Direction
UI/UX that doesn’t feel like an app — more like a playful food adventure
Features that tighten the workflow of rating dishes, not restaurants
Personality-driven design that makes food discovery feel like an RPG
Lush interactions, fluid motion, color, delight
Forward-looking design that sets the tone for future add-ons like:
Personalized “palette DNA” matching
Signature dish identity badges
Reservations and food delivery integration
Friend-matching by food profile
You Might Be a Fit If You:
Design like a product thinker but with a chaotic creative streak
Love food, gaming, personality-driven UX, or all of the above
Know how to create systems that scale, but still feel fun
Think: Glassmorphism, motion, micro-interactions, personalization
Can propose features or UX structures we haven’t thought of yet
Compensation
We don’t have a fixed budget for this redesign. TORO is in the very early stages — pre-revenue, but actively preparing for fundraising. We’re open to discussing creative compensation structures, including potential equity options for the right collaborator.
